Soldier claims he saw mysterious sasquatch
Eatonville, Wash. (AP) - More mysterious footprints have been found in a forest eight miles from the spot were a Fort Lewis soldier maintains he sighted a sasquatch 18 days ago, a Seattle newspaper reports.
The footprints appear to have been made by a creature eight feet tall, taking eight-foot seven-inch strides on feet 16 inches long, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports in a copyrighted story in today’s editions.
A team from the paper studied the prints, which were found by employees of an unidentified state agency. If the prints were made by the legendary sasquatch, “Bigfoot” must weigh at least 300 pounds, the paper theorizes. The exact locations of the prints was not revealed, but they have been seen by a half dozen witnesses, measured by a P-I reporter, and photographed.
The earlier sighting, by the Fort Lewis soldier, was in the vicinity of Northwest Trek, an outdoor wildlife park near Eatonville about 30 miles south of Tacoma in Pierce County. The soldier was taken to Madigan Army Medical Center and a doctor there said the solider was “very upset” and “quite certain he saw Bigfoot.” The soldier has declined to be identified because of fear he would be publicly ridiculed. Reporters were told the solider was in shock and “too unstable” to be questioned about the incident.
Previous to that, a Madigan ambulance driver, Don Durden, said he had come across giant footprints in the forest while hiking near Northwest Trek.
