REPORT RECEIVED From: The GCBRO Online Report Submission Form.

DATE: 01/1985

TIME: Around 9:45 pm Friday Night

LOCATION: Western Australia

TERRAIN: Scrubby brushland

OBSERVED: An old girlfriend and myself were going to Moore River in Guilderton, to a friends family beach house for the weekend. We turned off the Brand Highway in my 1972 Holden Kingswood around 9.45pm, about 16km (1mile) along the turn-off my trusty car overheated. I stopped on the side of the road and lifted the hood to let the engine cool, it was pitch black so I had the headlights on to see what i was doing. I'd taken the radiator cap off and it sprayed water everywhere, so I thought I'd let it cool while I had a cigarette. My girlfriend at the time got out of the car to see what was going on. I don't know how long we were talking when I noticed something big coming through the bush to the rear left of the car (passenger side) about 30-40metres off. It was then I noticed these red glowing eyes, I've worked with kangaroos and other native animals and know their eyes do reflect light but not of this nature. My girlfriend after also seeing it asked what it was, I then noticed it was walking like a human (dodging bushed as you'd see the eyes appearing then going behind something then reappearing. And the side of the road dropped off a good 4-5 foot, I then thought wow this is big as it's eye level was quite high. By now it was about 15-20metres from us walking at a slow/steady pace crunching heavy on the dry undergrowth. I still remeber thinking how the headlights were pointing away from whatever it was, yet it's eyes were glowing as if I had high beam on it. By now it was getting too close and i started to freak a bit , and said to my girlfriend, If this was a movie everyone in the cinema would be screaming - get in the car, get in the car. We looked at each other and I after pulling the hood down with radiator cap off, we jumped in the car and took off. I drove for about another kilometre or two before stopping to refill my radiator.

At the time, grabbing my camera, which was in the back, or turning the car around to see what it was never crossed my mind. And the whole incident slipped my mind till I read something about Yowies having eyes that glow.

Activities of Witness: Stopped on side of road letting vehicle cool off.

Description of Creature: Only the large red glowing eyes and the way it walked as if it was a big bloke well over 6ft.
