It is interesting. Beings it appears to be during the day there are other critters that can cause that. However I have heard very similar at night when most of the other possible critters are in bed. Keep up the good work.

I live in SE Kansas and have had activity around my home for 4 years. What part of the state are your research areas in?

Just wanna take a second to update this thread in regards to the "drumming incident". Myself and another researcher heard it yet again on 1-17-2016 in the same research area. This time we had the opportunity to pursue the noise. We both discovered that the noise was being created by woodpeckers on some dead fall and I believe they do this as a warning that potential predators/people are in the area. It's not the rapid fire sound one would normally associate with woodpeckers which is what threw me off. I will leave it posted here for future reference.

Found this blocking a trail in one of my research areas. A beaver downed this tree but the stump is no where near it. There are a few other beaver downed trees nearby which are either still somewhat connected to a stump or laying next to the stump they came from. All of them appear to be of similar age appearance wise. There was also a possible print found not too far from it.

I will be heading out to spend several days and nights on a private property in Northeastern Oklahoma that I've had the privilege to research on for several years now. The location has never failed to produce interesting findings and activity. Can't wait to see what turns up this time.

Best of luck to you. Hope you bring back some good evidence and have some great encounters. If you run it is something really interesting and need some backup. A lot of us are too far from there and all's you have to do is give us a shout. Again, best of luck.
