Man, I wish I could come. But I need to visit my daughter and granddaughter in Mexico that weekend. Last year I stayed at Double Lake campground. Nothing remarkable happened, until I went to the Lone Star Hiking Trail parking lot. As i pulled in i heard a loud, distinct WHOOP. Text book vocalization! I initially thought, "crap, somebody else is here!" But there were no other cars and noone on the trail that I could find. Since then that is a spot at which I have been planning to do a long duration recording project. You could do me a favor and set out some recorders, and let me know if you hear anything there. It was at Lone Star Trail trailhead.

Damn, okay. I will for sure leave a recorder in that area thurs-sat. This will eliminate searching for a drop area. You are referring to the one on 2025 right? Or the one inside the park at the south eastern end?

I got space #10 reserved for June 2, 3 4th leaving very early on the 5th on the SW side of Double Lake at that puts me close to the Lone Star trail head from the parking lot. This is the trail I walked with my family on a nice mild sunny afternoon on Jan 1st 2006 and found multiple young tree saplings broke and twisted off blocking trail coming from opposite sides and we went over and around that stuff pushing thru to a clear cut then to a seldom driven forest service road headed NE towards the creek that drains from the lake and when I was way ahead of everyone this is when I had steps pacing me following to my right rear stopping when I stopped but with a delay. I was unable to hear it more than a couple times before staring off trying to locate it and I guess it stayed behind a tree at that point.
