Report # 2390 (Class A)
Submitted by witness Philip M. Wilkins on Tuesday, October 13, 1998. Bow hunter encounters large bipedal animal with a short neck and long arms (Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 1972

MONTH: October

STATE: Kentucky

COUNTY: Logan County

LOCATION DETAILS: Logan County, Kentucky. 6 miles west of Russellville. 1 mile north of Highway 178

NEAREST TOWN: Russelville

NEAREST ROAD: Highway 178

OBSERVED: I had just climbed down from my deer hunting stand and quietly walked to the edge of a large soybean field. The moon was full and I thought perhaps I would see deer running from the field. What I saw was still creates goose bumps on my arms. Standing 30 feet from me and approximately 20 feet from the woods was an extremely large creature. It was between 7 and 8 feet tall and could have weighed as much as 500 pounds. It had a very short neck and arms that reached nearly to the knees. It made no movement toward me. The face was not visible due to the time of day. I was loaded down with compound bow and portable deer stand. I cannot detail the fear I experienced getting back to my jeep. I didn't shine the flashlight at it, as I was too frightened. The next day I went back armed with a 300 Weatherby to look for signs, but the ground was to hard to see tracks. There were no bushes in the field. There was no mistake in what I saw.

ALSO NOTICED: A red fox ran in front of my deer stand as I started to get down.

ENVIRONMENT: A long narrow soybean field approx. 50 acres. It was surrounded by woods on 3 sides, the back side by a large forest that went for several miles. The elevation at the sighting is approx. 550 Feet and a mile from any road. in a rural area.

Report # 2391 (Class A)
Submitted by witness Lyle on Tuesday, August 25, 1998. Strange noises followed by strong odor and glimpse of large bipedal animal (Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 1991

SEASON: Summer

STATE: Kentucky

COUNTY: Logan County

LOCATION DETAILS: Lewisburg, Kentucky, Logan County. In the northern most part of the county, in an area called Hollow Bill, along U.S. 431, one mile from the Muhlenberg County line.

NEAREST ROAD: Muhlenburg

OBSERVED: I came home about 9:00 PM. My father and I got out of my vehicle and immediately heard a loud screeching roar that reverberated off the surrounding hills. We stood in my drive and tried to tell where it was coming from. We heard the roar again about 10 or 15 seconds later and I determined it was coming from the northern part of my property. My father and I went quickly into the house and I grabbed my shotgun and loaded it with 00Buck. My father refused to accompany me to the woods as he was scared. I grabbed my flashlight and headed out the door and up the hill. I left the light off and walked as quietly and slowly as I could. As I neared the woods, there was a strong, foul odor. I heard branches breaking in the woods and flicked on my flashlight, pointing it towards the sounds. When the light went on,"IT" took off on two legs and busted branches as it went. I only had a short glimpse of it but, it was tall, large, hairy, and an animal of some sort. I mentioned it to an old farmer friend the next day and he told me it had been spotted years ago and was called the "Critter," by the locals. I haven't had any other contacts since that fateful day. I might mention that I checked the woods out the next day and there were numerous broken branches up to a height of about 8 foot, and the ground showed obvious disturbance from its fleeing

ENVIRONMENT: Edge of the woods and my field on a hill.

Passenger on US Hwy. 431 spots a tall, dark figure walking uphill south of Dunmor
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2014

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: April

DATE: 16

STATE: Kentucky

COUNTY: Logan County

LOCATION DETAILS: North hwy 431 from Lewisburg Ky. about 6 mile just before Dunmor

OBSERVED: My girl friend was driving and I saw a tall, large, dark figure walking up hill about 2 pm on a bright sunny day in April.

OTHER WITNESSES: my girl friend but she was driving

OTHER STORIES: yes I read about a sighting here you see this place I'm talking about is called Hollow Bill and I also live here

TIME AND CONDITIONS: sunny day sun on its back

ENVIRONMENT: It is right off the side of 431 in the woods on the creek

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jim Wigginton:

I believe James is sincere and honest when relaying many accounts to me in addition to this sighting. The area has a history of Bigfoot activity including howls, sightings and encounters that go back to 1975, that I know of. He had several sighting over the years.

James was riding while his girlfriend drove and he looked over. He saw a tall, large, dark figure walking uphill as they drove past, around 2:00 pm on a clear sunny day. The area has a history of sighting that go back years, that might be do to the remoteness and lack of population.

Hunters have a possible encounter early in the morning on their farm near Auburn
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2015

MONTH: October

DATE: Nov 14, 2015

STATE: Kentucky

COUNTY: Logan County

LOCATION DETAILS: on our family farm off Gasper River Road

OBSERVED: It was opening day of modern gun deer season in Logan County Kentucky, Nov. 14, 2015. My husband took me to my deer stand at the edge of the hay field. There was no moon, and I couldn't see much of anything in front of me. I waited until he left in the old Jeep and continued to wait for approximately 10-15 min before I turned on the red bill light on my cap to load my gun. I loaded three shells into my 243 then turned off my bill light. Within a minute I hear a rustle on the ground to my left and slowly turned my head in the direction of the sound. I saw two red lights, like eyes approximately 30ft away and I judged the red lights to be 8-10 feet off the ground. I thought for a second that I was seeing spots before my eyes from my red bill light. I rubbed my eyes and blinked a couple of times, thinking I needed to clear my eyes. The lights were steady for a few seconds then blinked twice, like I had done. I was wondering what was going on, thinking another hunter had walked up to my stand, then I heard loud movement in the leaves as if it was moving up to the old road approximately 50 yds away. I could not make out a shape but as it neared what I considered close to the old road, it stopped and started a low whoo sound that increased to a very loud whoop. I was scared then, I have hunted for many years and I have never heard an animal make that sound. I clicked the safety off my gun but by that time I could hear it making it's way along the old road ridge heading toward our cattle barn.

ALSO NOTICED: After my husband left me at my stand, he drove to our cattle barn approx. 1/4 mi, where he left the jeep and walked to his stand toward the bottom next to the river. He was afraid that he would have trouble finding the stand and turned on his red light, he saw red lights that he thought was stand indicators but as he neared the stand, he saw the lights blink and hear something move away. Neither of us knew what the other had experienced until we came back to the cabin about noon. He said well, I think I had a bigfoot encounter, I said let me tell you about mine!

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 4:30am no moon, complete darkness, weather was cold and clear

ENVIRONMENT: In a wooded area next to an open hay field

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jim Wigginton:

Talked to Jean via phone and she seems to be a very sincere and honest individual, that was not sure what was going on that morning. Her husband left her at the tree stand then drove off to his father on down. She then climbed up to the tree stand and switched on her red light to load her rifle. Then after turning off the light she head a rustle in the leaves 30 ' away and noticed two red lights about 8 to 10 off the ground. She then blinked twice and the red eyes then blinked twice. This was a shock to her thus taking off the rifles safety after hearing a low whoop that became a very loud whoop. It then started to walk down an old road away from her, towards her husbands stand.

That month while mending a fence rocks were thrown at her until she threw rocks back and said I know your there.

Another time in November she saw a large bi-pedal figure walk over a ridge in the pasture field some distance away. The color difference from their cows is what attracted her to it.

This area is about three miles from where i had my encounter on the same creek, but mine was in August of 2014.

Her husband noticed red eye glow that blinked twice while at his tree stand some distance away. She said the animal would have had time to get to her husbands stand by going over the ridge, but wasn`t sure it was the same one.

Guy exploring creeks finds tracks then growled at by large dark figure 10mi northeast of Russellville
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2014

SEASON: Summer

DATE: 18&22 nd

STATE: Kentucky

COUNTY: Logan County

NEAREST TOWN: Bowling Green

OBSERVED: On June, 18, 2014 I set out to find where two creeks merge back in the woods. On the left of a old wagon road i noticed a 17 inch footprint at the edge of the road/path. A few feet farther another 7.5 inch footprint next too a tree about 3 feet high on the bank overlooking where the creeks merge.

Left my casting material in the truck; therefore, decided to walk back after taking pics. Sunday afternoon the 22nd and after a few days of rains went back a different way. While walking next to the woods in a corn field i heard something trailing me in the woods. Determined it was somewhat large with all the noise it was making breaking branches and logs on the ground. Went past the location where the creeks merge and doubled back. Walked towards the creeks and noticed a footprint in the field. The toes section was gone but the other 2/3rd of the foot was still there. A small print was on the back right side of the adults heal print about 2.5 to 3 inches long. Placed my backpack next to the print because no others around. The farmer had cultivated the field.

Walked to the creeks and chased something into the creek. It was large by the sound of the splash, like a belly busted splash sound. It ran off and started making growls. It would do a growl then a second later do another growl. Then a few seconds 5 to 10 seconds of silence then another set of two growls. Did this for eight sets of growls and then i did a whoop, after that whoop... silence - not another sound. Spent days looking for growls like what i heard and on Legends Beware a video taken on 12/July/2013 at the counter mark of .18 and especially 1.40 is the growl. I have been back and left peanut butter but no other tracks except a lot of deer tracks. Believe they may be from a area to the west that people have noticed years before, it was getting too populated for them. ?

ALSO NOTICED: Have been back and nothing else but will go back to gift. Did notice a few trees placed at approx. 45 degrees against another tree up a hill and along the trail.

OTHER WITNESSES: Just me following a Creek

OTHER STORIES: About ten to twelve miles north i heard about howls and whoops in the woods behind houses. The son was telling a friend of mine about hearing howls in the early mornings, he works night shift. His mother asked him what animal makes whoop sounds. Like i said earlier reported to me howls, foot step sounds and tree shaking to the west approx. 7 to 10 away.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Mid afternoon both times with a sunny sky

ENVIRONMENT: It is a wooded area with a corn fiels on the left side, no houses or roads near by.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jack Smarr:

I spoke with this witness on the phone.

Further details:

Witness returned to the foot print site on Sunday using a different route. While en route witness stated that something big, escorted him through the woods to the site. He said that it did not make any pretension of stealth and was in fact breaking branches along the way in a very loud manner.

He further stated that he found two new tracks near the original two reported. One of the new tracks was fifteen inches in length. Inside the heel of that track was a very small track measuring two and one half inches in length.

The crashing of the branches and brush stopped and he noted that there was a large blackish hairy figure peeking from behind a tree across the creek about 100 feet away. He could not identify features beyond that it was big and hairy. Brush and trees obscured a clear view. The growls began shortly there after in sets of two. He described the growls as guttural and from deep inside of the chest. One growl, then another was followed by five seconds of silence. Then the pattern repeated. The witness stated that he was not scared but got the message of "I am here, and you better stay over there."

Finally he let out a whoop and everything went quiet.

The witness visits this site about two times a year leaving jars of unopened peanut butter taped to a tree as high as he can reach. He has never found any trace of the peanut butter jar or tape upon his return.

[Note from Matt Moneymaker:

This witness provided lat/long coordinates. Based on those coordinates the zone he's describing is near the confluence of Wiggington Creek and Gasper River, roughly 10 miles northeast of Russellville Kentucky, and 17 southeast of Bowling Green.

He mentions vocalizations reported 10 to 12 miles north of that location. That area would be near the Gasper River also, so that is probably the stream it moves along, if it is still around there.
