Report # 19339 (Class A)
Submitted by witness on Friday, May 25, 2007. Late afternoon road crossing near Cibecue (Fort Apache Reservation) (Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2006

SEASON: Fall

MONTH: October

STATE: Arizona

COUNTY: Navajo County

LOCATION DETAILS: The location is about 1/2 mile northwest of the CBQ school just east of the old airport

NEAREST TOWN: Cibecue

NEAREST ROAD: BIA 12

OBSERVED: Hello my name is XXXXXXXX in the year of 2006 I was employed as a Forest Ranger patrolling the West End of the Fort Apache Indian Reservation I was sitting by the side of the road, right before the start of the airport. I was waiting for woodcutters to return,so I can check their permits. At this time it was about sundown but it was still light enough to see, I noticed a creature which resembled a man but was covered in black hair, but unlike the BigFoot reports this creature was about average height and I estimated the weight to be about 200 lbs. I thought I was seeing things, the creature crossed from the northeast and headed west above the cibecue school. It crossed so fast by the time it crossed the road I was stunned and I drove toward the direction the creature crossed hoping to get a better look but it had already crossed into a gully. I was afraid no one would believe me so I kept it to myself. I don't know if what I saw was a juvenile BigFoot but whatever it was it seemed to disappear and the creature didn't seem to know I was there since it crossed about 100 yards in front of me, I was backed up off the road. It was scary and I didn't want to get off my unit and investigate or look for tracks.

ALSO NOTICED: nothing unusual

OTHER WITNESSES: I was the only person patrolling the area at the time of the sighting

OTHER STORIES: No

TIME AND CONDITIONS: The time of day was late afternoon and the weather was clear and cold

ENVIRONMENT: The land description is very flat and open ground by the creature came from the hill behind me which is mostly juniper and prickly pear cactus, the direction it went into has alot of gullys

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator TF Zamiski:

On 2/28/08 I spoke with this witness about this incident.

He was born and raised in this area and at the time was employed as a forest ranger. Prior to that he was a police officer. With both jobs he spent nearly two years patrolling the region. During this time and over the years growing up there he heard many stories of the hairy men. As he said in his description of the incident he was stunned to actually see one.

He estimated the height of the biped at about 5' 6" and feels very good about that estimate considering he has seen many people out in the wilderness and is confident about judging size and distance.

As he watched it quicky cross the road he felt it either did not see him or didn't care that he was there. It just moved along like it had somewhere to go.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator TF Zamiski:

I spoke with this witness on 1/31/08.

The sound seemed to come from across the lake, hard to judge the distance. They were sleeping in a camper.

This witness is familiar with animal sounds and has spent considerable time outdoors. The only sound he could identify this particular incident with are the recordings on this website.

The Show Low area has a history of BF related incidents.

Report # 25625 (Class B)
Submitted by witness on Thursday, March 12, 2009. Man finds large, human-like footprints in mud while jogging near his home (photos included) (Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2009

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: February

DATE: 20

STATE: Arizona

COUNTY: Navajo County

LOCATION DETAILS: Following BIA 12 up past the high school football field pavement comes to an end, about 50 yards from the pavement there is a small rarely traveled road off to the right. Near the "mouth" of that road is where I found the "tracks."

NEAREST TOWN: Cibecue, AZ

NEAREST ROAD: BIA 12 (I think)

OBSERVED: Was out for a run a couple of weeks ago and during my cool down I noticed what might be footprints in some dried mud. I have pictures and will send them if needed, most of the area is flat with some surrounding hills and low trees (juniper, oak, ect.). I'm unsure whether or not these are actual tracks due to the many other obvious boot and shoe prints in the same area; but, a few of the tracks have what looks like toe impressions and all are fairly large. All were bigger than my size 13 shoe, there is also a sighting reported in the same area on this website, October 2006 Navajo County, AZ near Cibecue. I live right behind the school and about 1/2 mile away from the old airport and have heard numerous stories, including one about two months before of three people seeing one sasquatch cross the road, and people seeing a sasquatch near the school dumpsters.

ALSO NOTICED: Just the sighting and stories mentioned before. Also, on occasion the dogs in the area tend to go crazy but we dont pay much attention since we have a lot of wild horses in the area.

OTHER WITNESSES: My fiancee saw the photos I took and agreed that the impressions looked like a "big" footprint.

OTHER STORIES: Mentioned above.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Late afternoon 3-4 p.m.

ENVIRONMENT: Edge of the valley that Cibecue is in, surrounding hills and mountains.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Lyle McKinley:

I communicated with the witness several times both by phone and email and the following details can be added:

He is a teacher who has lived in the remote town of Cibecue, AZ his whole life.

The road the prints were found beside is very close to the Cibecue Creek riparian area and it seems reasonable that any animal that intended to travel from one side of the valley to the other, using the creek to hide its presence, would have to travel on or very near, this road at some point in its trek.

When asked why he thought the prints were not human, the witness replied that, "there were a lot of obvious boot and shoe prints. The thing that caught me with these prints was...they were about 6 or 7 feet apart and more sunk and not 'skidded' in the mud...kind of struck me as unusual. I'm 5'10" and lucky to clear 3' in my strides so in my opinion I guess there was something "non-human" about them.

The witness also said that the prints were in more or less a straight line, narrow pattern.

The prior BFRO report the witness referred to is Report#19339.

Here are the photos the witness took:

Report # 47536 (Class A)
Submitted by witness on Sunday, January 04, 2015.
Evening sighting from a fishing boat on Fools Hollow Lake near Show Low
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2014

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: April

DATE: 22nd

STATE: Arizona

COUNTY: Navajo County

LOCATION DETAILS: 34.277126, -110.072090

NEAREST TOWN: Showlow, AZ

NEAREST ROAD: HWY 260

OBSERVED: On approximately April 22,14 I was at Fools Hollow Lake near Showlow, AZ I was out on the lake around the bend fishing where a storm was starting to roll in from the east as the storm was getting closer I was becoming more uncomfortable so I decided to start heading in. I was heading west when I spotted what I thought was a bear down on all four drinking water from the edge of the lake my approximate coordinates were 34.277763, -110.071018 and when I first spotted the creature its coordinates were 34.277126, -110.072090 off the point at the bend of the lake (the lake is a sideways "L" shape. As I got closer to the creature still thinking it was a large black bear I saw it stand up on its two hind legs and look towards me. The creature then turned and walked into the wooded area behind it where I lost sight of it. The small time frame in which I did see the creature walking depicted very similarly to the Patterson video this creature about 7-8' tall longer arm length reaching towards its mid thigh and walking with a very long stride and a hunch. The creature appeared to have a reddish brown color to it a few shades darker than an orangutan. After losing sight of the creature I was unable to catch it in my sight again. With the storm right behind me and lightning all around I did not want to be on the lake in a 12' aluminum boat so I headed back to shore.

ALSO NOTICED: None.

OTHER WITNESSES: No other witnesses to my knowledge.

OTHER STORIES: Yes closer to Heber-Overgaard though lots of stories of the mogollon monster described as a sasquatch creature roaming the mogollon rim.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Evening close to 5pm overcast rolling with heavy monsoon

ENVIRONMENT: Edge of a lake where there were forested areas.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator TF Zamiski:

I spoke with this witness twice by phone to go over more details of this report.

Prior to the sighting he had trouble starting his motor, with that and the incoming storm he did not want to investigate the location and decided to get back to the launch.

Having made several fishing trips to this lake in the past he was very familiar with seeing people moving about on the shore. This subject was quite different in its size, color and movement leading him to be very confident that this was not a bear or a human. He did not see any other people on or around the lake during this trip.

He estimates his distance from the subject to be around 250 yards and the distance he watched it walk back to the woods to be about 50 yards, allowing him to make a very reasonable assessment of what he was seeing....

About BFRO Investigator TF Zamiski:

Tim is a residential Manager for an electrical contractor. He attended the 2006 Arizona Expedition and the 2006 Wisconsin Expedition. Tim helped organize the 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 Arizona Expeditions and the 2011 New Mexico expedition.
