Pushing The Line

Post by Rebelistic » Mon Nov 11, 2019 10:02 pm

As most of us have learned since we started researching is that our fear line or bottle takes more and more to fill up to where we exit the woods during probable encounters. What will send the average person or new researcher out of the woods is not a big deal for us anymore.

I think the critter also has a line that can go from a neutral experience of curiosity to an aggressive stance. I think during the rock throwing incident I had some years back I crossed that line and things went south quick. However luckily it wasn't a long term set back. So one thing to keep in mind is there is two separate lines that we need to be aware of. I think for long term research in the same area is to try not to cross their lines.

Some of the things I do to try and not cross that line is at night when I am out there I stay on human areas if you will. Logging road, field roads, even walking trails go into that category. During the days I explore where I want to but at night I try and give them their spaces.

So where are your lines in research? How hard do you push them? What are your results?

I believe the one component is are you solo...I would never have gone out to that deer blind in Oct. had SuperDave not been there on the radio. For me it is the disappearing and nobody knows as to why. That night had that not been a false charge / shaking of that blind (.Ive come to that conclusion if that thing wanted me he could have walked out of there blind and all).at least somebody would have been aware of why I was gone. There have been many times when I had wished I had not gone out alone....but I conveniently forget that feeling the next time I shove my kayak out into the Neches at 1am....and remember it only as excitement.

Neat discussion and something for me to consider as I will be able to do more active research finally... :D
My thought is that whatever you do at night, you have to know your area intimately and study it.
BigJimm: did you not say that you had an incident where a creature started beating the ground like a gorilla that was preparing to attack (I seem to remember you thought there was young ones around)... was that day or night?

What about leaving equipment behind: is there a line not to cross?

I leave audio out all the time and they don't seem to be bothered by it.

Hey Yankeesearch, didn’t even know you were in chat, now you have the bug so bad you will have to keep going out to see another one. :)

Anyway, as I stand before God, I did not make this up!

Not saying it was Sq/BF/DM/Yeti... but it was strange. And I am locking my doors tonight for sure!

And just I was turning away, I thought I heard snort -- which could have been deer or maybe cattle... but... I do not know.

I did not have the creepy feeling I normally get in these situations... so I really do not know what to make of it.
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:53 am »
One detail I forgot to mention: the whoop had almost a human like talk after it on both occasions.
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:52 am »
I walked back to the other side, and thought I heard a knock...
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:51 am »
Cattle about 1/8th mile away disappeared... and strangely at that location: it sounded like something banged the metal fence. Not loud... but never ever heard it before tonight.
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:50 am »
Two whoops... and some deer scattering (they may have been scattering because of me).

From 6:20 PM to maybe 6:45 PM CST

I may have just had an encounter!

Just to get the chat going, it’s going to take some time to move over all the data, but in the end, hope everyone likes the layout here.
