I was talking with some folks this weekend and had several encounters related to me; two of which are second hand. The first two were from the Konowa area back in the early 70's. There was a woman there who told me that her friend swore that she had seen an eight foot tall bigfoot outside her home in the area, and that the creature raised its arms and then walked away. The woman had an encounter herself a few years later. She said she saw a creature that was about 5-6 feet tall when it stood upright. The creature was on all fours and then stood up and walked to a small tree, trying to hide behind it. The creature had flexed knees like an ape, and long arms. It was covered in dark hair, and had a rounded head, and it rocked from side to side. She was never sure that it was a bigfoot, but always suspected that it was.

A second hand encounter was from a local man, whose grandfather owned land near Calumet. Years ago he stated that his grandfather saw the "Hairy Man" along a small creek in the area. The creature was about 9-10 feet tall and covered in long hair. He went on to say that his grandfather also said that lots of people saw the hairy man in the area, but the sightings stopped when I-40 went through. This would have been in the 1930's

Finally I heard a sighting about a small ape like creature having been seen east of Ada. A woman related to me that when she was a little girl she saw what she had at first thought was a chimp in her backyard one night. The creature was sitting by the woods out back , but it stood up and walked back into the woods on two legs. This would have been in the late 60's
