Oklahoma Zoo Offers Comfy Cage, Free Grub
New Home Awaits Missouri Monster
Oklahoma City (AP) – If the so-called Missouri “monster” needs a home, Oklahoma City Zoo director Lawrence Curtis says he has a nice comfortable cage, complete with all the trimmings. Cutis got a firsthand look at the beast’s footprints Tuesday and termed the plaster impressions “fakes.” The ‘monster” has received its share of attention recently ever since a Louisiana, Missouri, farmers’ son and daughter reported sighting a tall, black, hairy creature near their house a couple of weeks ago. Casts of the monster’s footprints were taken during the weekend and were brought to Oklahoma City for examination. The director of the International UFO Bureau in Oklahoma City saw the casts and said he thinks the thing may be a visitor from another planet. Curtis does not agree. But he said he knows what to do with the so-called monster if he, she or it is found. Curtis said, “We have a cage all ready for him, and we’re willing to put him on exhibit. If he wants to turn himself in, he should know he’ll have a nice place to stay, cool in summer and warm in winter, and we’ll be glad to feed him whatever he eats. “But it really would be better if we could get two. We’d like to raise a few little monsters, too, if we have a chance. The head of the UFO bureau, Hayden Hewes, thinks the monster should be taken more seriously. Hewes has several ideas of what the monster might be. He said it could be a gorilla, it could be a creature from a U-F-O, and it could be a troglodyte, or cave dweller. Hewes said, “Personally I lean toward the troglodyte theory.” But, Curtis said, “On the basis of our examinations, we think they (the footprints) are fakes. And not very good fakes at that.” Curtis admitted it was possible an unknown species of animal could be living in the Missouri forests.
