Ok I will try to put everything in order as it happened. This will also be in several parts from my blog. Its going to take a little time to get it all in order.

We left about 12:30 for the hour and a half drive to Summers county.
As we approached the exit we could see where the alleged first sighting took place. It was up behind a visitors center just off the exit.

The mountainside had trees and brush but it was easy to see the forest floor.Anything the size of Sasquatch could be seen relatively easy.We exited came to the building and very quickly found the gravel road where it was reported about 150ft up this road the second sighting occurred. We found a place to pull off in a curve and parked. You could see where the road went around and led to a gated cemetery. To the left just around the curve was what looked like a water tower of sorts and a rutted dirt road going up the mountain. The water tower is used to supply water to the Visitors Center.

Image

So my daughter and her boyfriend went to the right of the water tower and over a slight bank into the woods while my wife and I started up the dirt road.It was not a steep climb so my wife was able to do it although she paid for it the next day.The climb up the hill was pretty uneventful.I was recording the whole time which would prove later to be a mistake.I had left the other 2 videotapes at home.DUH!Any way I was looking for just about anything that would constitute possible activity.Just up the hill a little ways my video camera caught this.I did not see it with my own eyes as most of the time I had the cam pointing one way and my eyes pointing another. This will be investigated this weekend.

Image

I am going to pause here as I have to upload a video to Youtube for this next part. Will continue tomorrow.

Rick

So we continued on up the hill.Things remained pretty uneventful. We got to this one area where we could hear the interstate traffic again.Apparently I-64 wraps itself around this mountain. We had decided to stop there as we had been walking up about a half hour and go back down.As we turned around and started back our noses picked up the stink. This is where the following video starts. My wife says it smelled like cow.I really couldn't associate what it was. Then right after that we heard what sounded like grunting. It was coming from the interstate side if the road.I was hoping that the mic could pick it up but apparently the auto traffic drowned it out. However if you listen real close at the 50 second mark you can barely hear a possible grunt. Here is the vid.The picture is jumpy but its the best I could do with the program I am using for transfers.Until I can figure out all the toys on this forum this is the link to the video. :D.

Also in this area the cam picked up this.

I didnt think much of it when I found it but saved the image for further study. While browsing on Bulletmaker's picture thread one day I found this picture taken by Driveroperator on Bullets property.

Image

The similarity floored me.I asked Bullet what this was.He informed me it was the jawbone of a cow stuck in a tree.As far as I know there are no cows in the immediate vicinity of my site.I will look at this on Saturday.
So we continued down the hill and it was pretty much uneventful. We ran into daughter and hey boyfriend coming up.She had only heard what sounded like a rock hitting a tree (Wood Knock?) and a possible twig snap and nothing else. Now we come out back to the water tower rested a little and waited for my daughter to come out. After she came back she said she had that being watched feeling.I did not have this feeling when I went up but she went farther than we did.In any case we started exploring the tree line around the water tower. Here is where I may have found some very intriguing evidence.

Image

I am becoming more fascinated every day with the possible use of stick formations by Sasquatch. What I found was an X at the perimeter of the trees. What got me curious was the way it was made. There was one small tree laying on the ground.Another small tree had been snapped of almost at the almost ground level which fell across the the tree on the ground creating an X or even a cross.

Image

Image

Closeup reveals a clean break. This was a recent happening at the time the pic was taken. The wood is still strong. There are no branches or leaves on it which rules out wind.We did not see the other break on the bottom tree but on my second trip there I found the stump for the bottom limb. Will take pics and post next week.

While my Wife and I were walking up the hill,my Daughter and her boyfreind had went into the woods in a different direction to the right of the Water Tower. She had with her a camera and a mp3 voice recorder. Not knowing what to look for I filled her in on possible things that may indicate a BF prescence.Well in my opinion she done pretty good. Here are the pics she took.

One other thing that the video cam picked up that none of us saw was a footprint. Maybe 2

Image

The print on the bottom right there are toe impressions and a clear curvature indicating probably the right foot. The possible one on top had no toes.I looked at it in extreme closeup and it looks like it has a left foot curvature. On the second abbreviated trip I found the bottom one but it was almost gone due to the elements.
It was getting late into the afternoon so we decided to head to Beckley to eat at Ryans and discuss the days events and decide if we should go back as night was approaching.

After eating a hearty meal at Ryan's we decided to go back and do a little more looking around. So my daughter went to Wal Mart and brought a high intensity light. She also bought some wooden sticks to try some tree knocks. All of the wood at the site laying around was pretty much decaying so was useless.WE arrived back at the site around 8 PM.Daylight was starting to fade.I started the camcorder but only had 7 minutes of recording time left.I got my laptop out and started recording video with it.But like a dummy i forgot to enable the microphone so no sound. In any case my wife, daughter and her boyfriend got out.I stayed in the car fooling with the cam and laptop. My daughter and her boyfriend started up the dirt road while my wife stayed down around the tower. Now let me pause for a minute and say during the afternoon I was really feeling good going out and looking around. However once I got back to the site i was very apprehensive.Something was different about the whole atmosphere.I stayed close to the van.My daughter was still in sight when she started her wood knocks.Almost immediate ly she turned toward me and said"Dad,over there"pointing into the woods about 50 feet from the tree line surrounding the water tower.I pointed the cam toward the area but nothing was seen. She continued up the hill and went out of sight knocking every so often.I was keeping an eye on my wife who started her own set of knocks down by the tower. This went on for a while with no apparent results. My daughter is now coming back down the hill at a fast walk so I knew she had something. She said that every time she did a knock something in the woods moved closer to her. Then when my wife done her knocks it would change direction and move toward my wife.So thats when my daughter said"Lets do the sound".I had got a couple of BF vocalisations from the internet and stored them.i played them and almost instantly we all heard a thump in the woods behind the water tower and twig breaks from something walking.Well I got back in the car but I didnt start it.I told my daughter "I think we got all we need on this trip".I was ready to go.So we loaded up and drove down the hill.By this time it was dark.We stopped on the main road and started talking about what just happened. My wife and daughter said lets go back.I said nope and hit the interstate. For the next hour they begged me to go back.We stopped in Beckley for refreshments.Sat there for 20 minutes while they continued to plead.I said look this is our first time on something like this.We are not professionals so we do not know what we are dealing with.It could have been a bear and we had no defense against any wild critter. Finally we started back home. And thats it.When we got there in the afternoon we didn't hear anything. But when we came back that evening, something was there. Was it BF?I do not know.
Just a closing note on the first trip.We did not observe hear any type of wildlife save for an occasional bird chirp. This is also true for the second and third abbreviated trips. There was some evidence of there beig wildlife in the area.Saw deer prints, droppings but no visual sightings of any creature.Thats it for the first trip.

Let me preface this by saying that my job takes me by the site every once in a while so I stop there for about a half hour when I do.About a week before this entry form June 12 I had got a run to the area. After my work was done I arrived at the center about 12:30 AM.It was raining and I was by myself so I sat in the parkinglot of the visiors center for a bit and listened. Not being able to discern any thing over the rain I left and got off at the Shady Springs exit. There have been several reports to the BFRO in the area this year so I thought Id stop at the convenience store right off the exit.I wen in brought a soda.As I was paying for it I said to the girl working the counter "You may think I am crazy but....."You know the rest. She was taken aback and paused for a moment and said there was nothing she had heard about save what she saw in the newspapers. There ws a report in the Charleston paper a couple months back about the BFRO expidition in Greenbriar county so I assumed thats what she was reffering to.So this leads now to the next job related trip.

Got to spend about a half hour at the site on June 12 after making a job related trip to the area .I first stopped at the little country store about a mile from the area to buy some bait to put out. They did not have any fruit so I ended up getting some doughnuts. When I got to the visitors center and started up the hill.I noticed a white truck was going up ahead of me.He turned in to the water tower area.I saw on the side of the truck that it belonged to the National Park System. It was loaded with branches and limbs.I got out and asked the driver some questions about the land and he said it was park property. He reffered me to the visitors center for more info which I got including maps.In any case after he left I got the laptop out and started recording video.I went up the hill to check on where I had moved the tree from the pathway to see if it was put back.It wasnt.I went on up a ways looking for the Double "Xs" I found in the video from the first visit.I couldnt find them.I didnt want to go too far up by myself and there has been alot of growth since my last visit. So I headed back down and started walking around the treeline by the water tower.Went to the X first and looked around for a stump for the bottom tree.We didnt look real well the last time.Well I found it and it appears to also be a tree break like the top.I was unable to get a pic of it as the sun was very bright and distorting the camera in the laptop. When I go back I will get a good pic.All the while because of all the recent rain I am looking high and low for footprints. The only thing I found was the one I had captured in the video that had the toes.It is almost gone now with the growth and the rains washing it away. You can still see 2 toes and part of the foot.I went and put the laptop on top of the car and got the doughnuts.I placed them behind the water tower where nobody could see them on top of the fence where the barbed wire is.Hopefully if it works I might get some hair samples. That done I came off the hill stopped at the visitors center and talked to the rangers there for a few minutes. They asked me why I wanted to know about how much land is the parks and I told them I was an amature wildlife observer and I didnt want to trespass on private property. They give me maps and phone numbers to call for more info.I inquired about bears and they told me there were alot around but I should be ok as long as I dont run across a female.Well needless to say I will have some kind of bear protection the next trip. Finally after leaving the area I got off the interstate about 10 miles up the road and went through Shady Springs where there has been alot of reported activity.Just drove through to get a feel of the area.

Coming back from a family emergency trip to Virginia takes us right by the site.So about 8:30 PM we get there and park at the usual spot by the water tower.Out of the van we go(My wife and I)and start heading toward the treeline.Because it was getting dark we only ventured around the water tower.About a minute after we get out we hear a very loud tree knock off to our right. The water tower is on our left.My wife turned immediately toward me as she was ahead of me about 20 feet.I told her what I thought it was.Very loud.I couldnt judge the distance but it sounded reasonably close. There was only one knock so I wondered if it was a tree knock or not as they are from what I read usualy in a pattern of three.Well we went behind the water tower toward the tree line.I was checking where I left bait on the last trip for possible hair samples in the barbed wire.No luck. While I was doing that my wife motioned me over toward her. When I got there we thought we heard a possible growl.Because of the interstate traffic and a high flying jet going by we couldnt discern it very well.In any case that was all we were able to do.I looked for any possible footprints to no avail or for any other tangible evidence. After about an hour or so we left with nothing else to report. We are planning an overnighter this Saturday July 12.I think I am ready for it now. There are many things I need to check on including the double Xs and some other things I have found on the video of the first trip.Have already bought a good supply of video tape to record so there will be more to look at.

Rick, during the Memorial Day Expedition, we heard a single wood knock. It was very distinct, so I don't think that there was more than one. I have read of twos and threes as well.

I had the pleasure this evening of talking for a good hour and a half to the person who made this report to the BFRO

http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=23477

This is the site I am researching and posting about here.I want hin to give his expeiences at the site in his own words here when he is comfortable doing so.Thus I wont be giving out anything without his permission. However he has given me permission to post 3 pics here from the site.I will tell you what I know about the pics.

This first one is a footprint that he found.

Image

His measurements of this track were 17 inches from heel to toe and 8 inches in width.

The next is of the bedding area.

Image

The last is of a trail or path in some heavy grass.

Image

I will certainly be looking at these new areas among others he has told me about. It is going to be an eventful weekend Im sure. Thanks to bladenbigfoot for these and the next batch I will be posting.

Rick
